Baseball Season

Baseball season at the Bohne's has officially ended, for this Spring anyway. We start up again soon, but that's fall ball.

Colin and Carson played on the same team, the Angels, and they had the best coach in the league.....Jason. They both had a great time, learned a lot and made new friends. What else is there? It was fun watching Colin pitch, while Carson caught. Both boys were an asset to the team.

Dylan also played baseball on the Angels this season. He had the 2nd best coach in the league, our good friend Scott Nixon (Jason corrects me and says Scott's the best). Dylan learned a lot, made new friends and had tons of fun. His team went undefeated during the season and won the championship game 22-2. For those of you who don't know, Scott and Jason coached Melissa in softball and both Colin and Carson in baseball. When he gave Dylan his trophy, he informed us that he will not be coaching Levi. We are disappointed and hope to convince him to change his mind in a couple of years.

We all enjoyed many nights and the ballpark. The boys combined played 46 games in nine weeks. And we added Melissa's high school games and club ball tournaments in the mix. We have mixed feelings with the season ending, we are happy, sad and relieved, but we are ready to start again soon.

Two weeks on the road

Jason recently returned from two weeks of travel for work -- four days in Washington, D.C., a couple days home, and then a week in San Francisco. Two great places to visit, but he spent long days working. He was in D.C. for a national press conference he helped coordinate at the National Press Club. He was also the event's official photographer (he gave his camera to a co-worker to snap his photo when it was all over). Work at the corporate office in downtown San Francisco was busy, but he did enjoy unseasonably warm weather (85 degrees), which made eating lunch outside a real treat. Now he's glad to be home and is trying to get readjusted to a regular schedule -- and looking forward to traveling some more...with the rest of the family on vacation.

Happy Birthday Grandma

Today is Grandma Erickson's birthday. We won't say how old she is, but we do want to tell her that we love her very much. We love her because she is the best grandma in the world.

Colin: She is kind and loving. She plays card games with us when we're together. She is always nice. She always smiles and has a good time. She takes care of Grandpa.

Dylan: She likes to listen to us read and she likes to help. She doesn't get mad. She plays all kinds of games with us.

Levi: I like to go to her house and pick out toys to play with and go to bed when it's dark.

Carson: She lets us stay at her house and cooks us breakfast.

Melissa: She makes the best food! She always gives good advice. She knows how to cheer you up and make you feel better. She is funny, even though she doesn't look like she would be (ha! ha!). I love her because she's grandma!

WE LOVE YOU GRANDMA! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

She is not only the best grandma in the world, but she is also the best mom and mother-in-law, in the world. She has always been supportive, even if she didn't agree with us. She loves our kids, she loves her family, she worked hard for us! She lets us know that family is important to her.

Uncle James

This past week made me realize how important family is. Not just my immediate family, but my extended family also. My favorite uncle in the whole world passed away. It was a shock to everyone. I had a pretty hard time with it, but I realized it wasn't just because he was so awesome and wonderful, and that I would miss him, but also because my kids didn't know how wonderful he was. I decided that I'm going to take the time to talk to my family more and not feel that I've missed an opportunity in the future.

Thank you Uncle James for being a great example and teacher. I love you and will miss you!

What we're listening to...

Along with barbecue and baseball, we all enjoy music. Mostly rock and blues, and country, and alternative, some jazz, and 80s music, grunge, funk, disco...you get the picture. Carson - "The Funky Chicken" by Rufus Thomas (that's Stax Records, baby); "Tush" by ZZ Top; and "Shipping Up to Boston" by the Dropkick Murphys.
